- 1 Greek Mountain Tea Teabag
- Briki or pot
- 1 cup of water
- Sugar, lemon or honey (Optional)
How to Prepare a Hot Home-made Greek Mountain Tea:
Preparation of hot mountain tea is pretty simple.
- Fill your briki (or a pot) with water and turn heat to 100 degrees. Bring water to a boil.
- Remove your briki or pot from the heat and allow the Greek Mountain Tea teabag to steep for 3-5 minutes (depending on how strong you want the flavour to be).
- Remove the teabag and serve to your favourite mug.
OPTIONAL: Add honey or lemon juice for flavour. Try to avoid refined sugars as it will damage the components in the tea.
TIP: * Mountain tea is best drunk with a big squeeze of lemon, as the vitamin C in the citrus fruit helps the body absorb iron.
During summer, there is nothing more refreshing and satisfying than consuming Greek Mountain tea as an iced tea!
Also, people who do not find drinking plain water appealing, will enjoy consuming iced Greek Mountain tea to hydrate themselves especially during summertime.
To prepare iced tea:
- Follow the instructions for the preparation of hot mountain tea given above and then let the tea cool down.
- Once it has cooled down, put it in the fridge for a couple of hours.
- Remove the tea from the fridge and serve with some ice cubes and a slice of lemon.
- Enjoy!
